Days #14 – #21 – Ups and Downs

Days #14 – #21 – Ups and Downs
June 23, 2019

There isn’t in the much major changes department, like the first week of treatment showed. Some days are good, some not so good. And what I mean by that is how much she eats, how playful/active she is and how well she let’s me give her her shot. Most days I wish I could read her mind to figure out what she’ll eat, because no matter what I try she’s like “hell no!” Her one tried and true seems to always be fresh chicken. We went through that 12lb turkey already so I picked up two fryer’s at Costco the other day. I pressure cooked one at 11pm that night because I didn’t realize I was out and I knew she’d want some the next day (have I said how much I love my Instant Pot? 20 mins to cook a whole chicken?!) Bonus was it made a little bone broth and she seems to enjoy the “jiggly juice”.

While Aggie’s weight isn’t decreasing, it’s not increasing at a very fast rate. I weighed her tonight and she was at 6.17 lbs (when we started treatment she was 5.36 lbs, and her highest ever weight was 6.33 lbs). She gained most of that weight in the first week, shooting up to 5.92 lbs and then slowly increasing from there. I picked up some CBD Oil for animals and have been giving her that before injections, but I think I’m going to start giving it to her several times a day to see if it helps with her energy, hunger and maybe some of the pain from the daily shots.

I will be taking her to the vet sometime in the next two weeks to do bloodwork to see how her insides are shaping up. I’m hopeful, but I’m also wondering if I’ll need to increase her dosage after getting those results as I’ve expected her to be doing a little better at this point (but honestly she’s not dead so that in and if it’s self is amazing!)

Here are some pics from the last few days!
